Joseph Powell, AIA
Principal

As a founding principal of the firm Buell Kratzer Powell LTD (BKP), Joseph Powell brings to every project varied and rewarding design and master-planning experience. Characterized by a respect for history, an insightful approach to the possibilities of each site and an understanding of client needs, Mr. Powell's work has gained national recognition for excellence. His responsibilities include the management, design leadership and marketing of the firm's library, community development, residential and commercial building projects. In addition, he serves as the firm's financial officer and intern development coordinator.

Immediately prior to establishing BKP, Mr. Powell headed the firm Joseph Powell and Associates, a precursor to the present organization. During this time he won an international design competition for the Evanston Public Library in Evanston, Illinois. His early professional experience includes work for the offices of C. William Fox and Peter Marino, Architect.

In addition to his BKP commitments, Mr. Powell holds numerous professional leadership positions. During recent years, he has served as a member of the AIA Pennsylvania Board of Directors, Vice President for the AIA Philadelphia Board of Directors and a member of the AIA/ALA National Library Building Awards jury.

Mr. Powell received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He periodically serves as an adjunct professor of architecture for his alma mater.
