Darrell Kratzer, AIA
Principal

Darrell Kratzer, AIA, LEED AP, recognizes that strong design alone doesn't always lead to project success. He knows the value of projects that succeed - and has the project management, cost estimating, and creative architectural skills to bring that value to every client.

Kratzer rose from intern to partner at a prominent commercial design firm, where he worked on major developer projects across the country. In the early 1990s, he joined a national construction management firm as a project executive. Here, he approached projects not from the designer's viewpoint but from the owner's. His dual perspective shaped the philosophy of Buell-Kratzer Architects, which he founded with Duncan Buell in 1995 and continued with partner Joseph Powell when Buell Kratzer Powell Architects, LTD was established in 1996.

Client relationships and business acumen afford Kratzer a strong project management philosophy and an understanding of client needs. An excellent strategic thinker, he looks at buildings without "rose-colored glasses," seeing the potential with a great respect for history. His architectural designs incorporate thoughtfully into their sites and demonstrate both his creative side and his pragmatism.

Kratzer earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, Philadelphia Athenaeum, Urban Land Institute, and Delaware Valley Green Building Council. Kratzer is a registered professional architect in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
